Reflections on the Seasoned Culture Journey

Sometimes I struggle with sharing, however, my goal for this year was to continue to connect authentically about my personal and professional journey as I take a break from big tech. This year has been about reconnecting with what's most important including my family, my daughter, and most importantly myself. After a tremendously hard 2023 with health issues, kid stuff, and more, I wanted to leave 2024 better than it found me. This led me to a journey of rediscovering the world, my city, my faith in God, and my connections with family and friends.

I became intentional about understanding what gave me joy and what made me thrive. I became more purposeful in my writing and in sharing my stories. This is where culture, cuisine, history, and purpose began to intersect for me. At the start of the year, I knew a big part of my success would hinge on building Seasoned Culture, an anthology of stories, food, memories, and people that are the foundation of who I am as a human. These were stories and recipes I had to share, not individually or piecemeal, but as a collective, one depending on the other.

It took time to realize that not only were these stories intertwined with each other, but they were much more than just a passion project. They were powered by the skills, tools, muscle etc. I'd built across my 24+ year career spanning government, retail, and tech. It extended beyond the areas of functional expertise I'd built over the years (strategy, supply chain, finance, marketing, product development, engineering) and honed all those skills into the role of Founder. The biggest way to test it all was betting on Tylitha.

You see throughout my career I have always tried something, accomplished it, and then figured out if it could be done again on a larger scale and bigger stage. Seasoned Culture is a way to take everything I've learned, built, developed, and launched and see if the time spent collecting skills, acquiring knowledge, honing information to insight, and building all that muscle could be harnessed into building something from scratch, launching, and put all the lessons to work. It was more than a, "keep yourself busy so you don't get bored" project despite what I told myself along the way. It was testing Tylitha to see, "can you really do it alone without the machine" moment to prove I'd really learned all I thought I did.

Seasoned Culture is what I needed this year. It's my story of faith proving that what I learned, delivered, or just had a seat to witness when paired with authenticity, would be a win for me. It sharpened my faith reinforcing that that I am never alone because God is always my center guiding every step. He connected me to every person, room, team, and role for a purpose.

I'm humbled in this journey, thankful for faith, and look forward to learning through Seasoned Culture and other opportunities to come. I sincerely thank you for reading and supporting my journey virtually.
